My Story In 1988, I stood in front of my parents – a director of Education and a professor of surgery – and told them I was dropping out of medical school to pursue photography. In late-1980s Nigeria, this wasn’t just unexpected; it was almost unthinkable. That decision set me on a path of continuous reinvention. I became a single mother, started my first business creating handmade African notebooks, and eventually relocated to the UK in 2004. There, I learned that starting over meant finding new ways to stand out. I ventured into everything from teaching arts and crafts to launching a cake decorating school. Life threw more curveballs – my sons’ autism diagnoses, immigration challenges that spanned a decade. During those years when I couldn’t travel, I turned isolation into opportunity, immersing myself in learning everything about sales, marketing, and persuasion. I discovered my true calling in 2015 when a chance conversation led to my first digital marketing client. After taking Donald Miller’s StoryBrand course in 2016, everything clicked – I realized that storytelling wasn’t just part of marketing; it was the key to genuine connection in a digital world. Today, I run The Email Writers Lab, helping entrepreneurs and course creators use story-driven email marketing to build authentic connections and drive sales. But my story isn’t really about me – it’s about what it means for you. Are You Ready to Turn Your Story into Your Greatest Marketing Asset? You have something valuable to offer. Your courses, your expertise, your products – they could change lives. But in a world of noise and endless scrolling, how do you get noticed? How do you turn strangers into loyal customers who can’t wait to work with you? Just like that moment when I chose an uncertain path over a “sure thing” in medical school, you might be wondering if your unique approach will resonate with your audience. Trust me – it will, when you tell it the right way. What if I told you that every experience in your journey – even the messy parts, the setbacks, the unexpected turns (like my transition from medical student to single mom to digital marketing expert) – could become your most powerful marketing tool? When we work together, you get someone who knows firsthand how to: - Find the golden thread in your story (because I’ve had to reinvent my own narrative multiple times) - Turn real-life experiences into messages that resonate deeply with your audience - Build genuine connections through email (after all, I built multiple businesses from scratch) - Convert subscribers into loyal customers without feeling pushy or sales-y Through The Email Writers Lab, I help entrepreneurs like you transform their email marketing from forgettable to unforgettable. Just as I turned my years of forced stillness into a masterclass in marketing, I can help you turn your unique journey into a magnetic message that attracts and converts your ideal clients. Imagine if your emails could: - Cut through the noise and grab attention instantly - Build such strong connections that subscribers actually look forward to hearing from you - Convert consistently, while feeling authentic and natural - Tell your story in a way that makes your offers irresistible Remember how I mentioned starting a cake decorating school? That taught me something crucial about marketing: it’s not about the features (like my admittedly questionable business name “Exotic Fantastic Cake Decorating School”). It’s about understanding what your audience truly needs and showing them how you can help them get it. This isn’t just about writing better emails. It’s about mastering the art of connection in a digital world. Just as I discovered that every “detour” in my journey was actually preparing me for my true calling, I can help you find the powerful story hiding in your experiences. Ready to make your story work harder for your business? Whether you’re looking to: - Craft a magnetic email strategy that converts - Learn the art of story-driven marketing for yourself - Train your team in effective email copywriting I’m here to help you turn your story into your greatest marketing asset. After all, if I could turn a medical school dropout story into a compelling business advantage, imagine what we could do with yours. Let’s write the next chapter of your success story together. Yesterday, my bestie woke up in the middle of the night, ate a few biscuits from her bedside snack drawer (don’t even ask) and promptly went back to sleep. We were on a FaceTime call, when she randomly shared this fact with me. Apparently, she’s been on this 21-day fast, and according to her, the hunger was kicking her butt! After we had a good laugh about her midnight snack attack, we somehow ended up talking about make-up. She even gave me a mini makeup lesson right there on the call “This...
Nobody cares about your story... Harsh? Maybe. Here’s a marketing lesson for you: people only care about themselves—their own pains, problems, desires, and goals. So if you’re going to tell your story, you need to tell it in a way that matters to them. Your story needs to reflect their desires, pains and needs. When I recently shared my own story, I knew it had to serve a purpose: reintroducing myself to my warm audience. Over the years, I’ve worn many hats—psychology student, medical school...
Over 100 likes and 30 comments in just 2 days after sharing my story - and that was just on my Facebook profile. On my linkedIn page it was wild. I had not posted anything for months and I just I posted my origin story and it was bonkers! Over 7000 percent increase in impressions and 2.5% increase in followers. Nothing fancy. I just told my origin story. I shared my story because I had to put my money where my mouth is and practice what I had been "preaching" to you to do all this time... I...
